Heavy truck crash investigations require specialized training and equipment.  Issues to be investigated include the mechanical condition of the vehicle, the adjustment of brakes and related components, safe loading, and weight/size law compliance.  Most heavy commercial motor vehicles have an EDR component that can record data about the operation of the truck at the time of a serious event (crash).  Commercial vehicles are also often equipped with aftermarket telematics or video recording systems.  Obtaining this important data must be done as soon as possible after the crash, preferably before the vehicle is placed back into service.  Failure to do so could result in evidence spoliation. At Valley Technical we can supply those skills with experts trained in:

  • Heavy truck EDR/ECM data extraction
  • Mechanical inspections to FMVSR standards including Tractor-trailer, Motor Coach, Hazardous Materials, and Bulk Tank by trained Federal Motor Carrier Inspector
  • Air brake adjustment/failure inspections
  • School Bus inspections
  • Engine mechanical forensics
  • On board Telematics Data evaluation
  • Federal Hours of Service (HOS/ELD) reviews
